It all began during the war.

While the cities were filled with uncertainty and chaos, Yousef would travel into the mountains of Yemen—walking through valleys in search of something rare: peace. What started as an escape from the weight of daily life slowly became something much deeper.

In those villages, he met farmers and families whose lives moved at a different rhythm.

They worked the land, harvested their coffee, and shared their stories with a quiet sense of presence, as if the noise of the outside world had no place there. The villages were beautiful, calm, and grounding in a way that stayed with him.

He returned again and again over the years.

For nearly seven years, Yousef worked closely with farmers, learning their processes, understanding the land, and building relationships rooted in trust. It was there, among the farms, that something shifted. Seeing firsthand the care and effort behind every harvest, he felt a deep responsibility to bring forward the true quality of Yemeni coffee.

What began as a journey became a mission.

He didn’t just source coffee, he lived it. From harvest to drying beds, from conversations with farmers to the quiet rhythm of village life, his connection to Yemeni coffee runs deep. For him, it was never just a product; it was part of his identity.

But this story doesn’t end in the mountains.

On the other side of the world, Alaa’s journey was unfolding very differently.

Coffee wasn’t always part of her life, not like this. In fact, it was something she once disliked. She had no connection to its history, no experience with farms, and no understanding of the depth behind it. Life in the United States was fast-paced and demanding, and like many, she found herself moving through it on autopilot—caught in the rhythm of daily life, yet feeling distant from a deeper sense of identity and purpose.

Having moved to the U.S. long before they met, she had gradually grown disconnected from the everyday rhythms of her heritage. Coffee, at the time, held no real meaning for her.

That changed after they got married.

Each day, as Yousef brewed his coffee, its aroma filled their home. What began as a simple daily ritual slowly awakened something familiar. It became a bridge, connecting her back to her roots, her memories, and a culture she had once felt distant from.

There was a sense of nostalgia in it. A quiet feeling of peace. And with it came something deeper, a rediscovery of identity.
